Breaking: Group Debunks Viral Photo of Wamakko, Kwankwaso, Datti Meeting — Says Senator is Abroad

The Sokoto Democrats Assembly (SDA) has debunked a viral photo circulating online, which claims that Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko recently held a “closed-door meeting” with Senators Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Datti Baba-Ahmed in Abuja.

Describing the post as “entirely false and politically mischievous,” the group clarified that Senator Wamakko has been outside the country since Wednesday, April 18, 2025, and is currently in Lahore, Pakistan.

“It is therefore impossible for any such meeting to have taken place at his Asokoro residence,” SDA Chairman Comrade Mohammed Isa Goronyo stated.

“The photo is a desperate fabrication, pushed by individuals seeking to score cheap political points through falsehood.”

Goronyo emphasized that Senator Wamakko, a founding father of the All Progressives Congress (APC), remains committed to the party and has no interest in political cross-carpeting or backdoor alliances.

“At his age and stature, Senator Wamakko has long risen above political gamesmanship. His loyalty to the APC is unshakable. He stands firmly on the values of consistency, discipline, and principled leadership,” he said.

The SDA urged the public to disregard the fake post and remain vigilant against calculated misinformation designed to cause political confusion.

As political tensions rise ahead of future elections, the group’s position serves as a caution against the weaponization of disinformation in Nigeria’s democratic space.

Engr. Abba is a man who carries his people along. A very generous, highly principled and passionate person. He is somebody who believes in the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Without fear of contradiction.

“I have enjoyed the admiration of many because of his practical and pragmatic approach to life and politics.

Majority of the ‘Kanawa’ people of kano are happy to identify and associate with Abba Kabir Yusuf.

His administration surpassed the annual good governance target it set while assuming office in May 29th, 2023.

When Abba Gida-Gida assumed office in May 29th, 2023 as the Executive Governor of kano state, he had benchmarks and deliverables according to each sectors. His team sets milestones to achieve in education, health, infrastructures, ICT, agriculture, youth and women empowerments among others.

So, governor Abba Kabir, i can boost and say he performed beyond his plans.

The opposition APC are still nursing the wound of their electoral defeat. So the party is ashamed to see the positive changes the NNPP led administration under the able leadership of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf are recording in kano state. The achievements are there for all to see.

it is safe to say that the Governor has redefined governance, taking sustainable development and advancing kano state beyond mere promises. For him, the era of abandoned projects was over in kano, because what we are witnessing is a regime of initiating and delivering quality projects skewed towards leaving behind, an enduring legacy for Kano and it’s citizenry.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL TENURE ELONGATION IN LAGOS LCDAs: A Call for President Tinubu Intervention

“The greatest threat to democracy is not violence or corruption, but the quiet subversion of constitutional limits, whereby those in power normalize the abnormal through incremental violations of established norms.” — Professor Wole Soyinka, Nobel Laureate

The Lagos Society for Good Governance, a non-partisan civic organization committed to upholding democratic principles and constitutional governance, wishes to draw the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwolu to the alarming trend of unconstitutional tenure elongation schemes currently unfolding in several Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.

Our organization has observed with concern the systematic attempt by certain LCDA chairpersons who initially assumed office as vice-chairpersons following the demise of substantive chairpersons to circumvent constitutional term limits through questionable interpretations of electoral laws.

Emphatically, we present the following specific cases that demand urgent presidential and legal interventions:

Vice Chairman Famuyiwa took over as the substantive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA after Chairman Arologun died in 2019. He subsequently contested and won re-election in 2021, serving what constitutes a second term. Famuyiwa’s current bid for another term in the forthcoming election would amount to nothing but an unconstitutional third term.

Secondly, in Onigbongbo LCDA, Chairman Dayo Oke passed away in 2020, and the Vice Chairman, Dotun Adekanye, was sworn in as substantive Chairman. While Hon. Dotun Adekanye who also seek re-election in 2021 and was sworn in 2021, but unfortunately for him, he also died on November 2024 and his vice chairman was sworn in as substantive chairman and took the oath of office as the current chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA remains eligible to contest once more in the 2025 elections, any future attempts to seek office beyond this would violate constitutional term limits.

It is pertinent to also note the death of Ikosi Isheri LCDA Chairman Abdulfatai Oyesanya in January 2020 during his second term. Vice Chairman Abolanle Bada was sworn in as substantive Chairman. After the completion of his term, she contested and won re-election in July 2021. Her current bid for another term would constitute an unconstitutional third term.

For us at Lagos Society for Good Governance, these actions directly contravene the constitutional amendments signed into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018. The Fourth Alteration Bill No. 16 (Constitution Amendment) Act explicitly limits individuals who succeed to the office of President or Governor following the death, resignation, or removal of the incumbent to only one additional term after completing their predecessor’s term.

As clarified by Ita Enang, then Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on National Assembly matters, “Having taken the oath as president for once, you can only contest for once again and no more. That is the intent of this amendment.”

This principle extends to local government administrations through Section 7 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which guarantees democratically elected local government councils and mandates state governments to ensure their existence under a law that provides for their establishment, structure, composition, finance, and functions.

The Lagos State Local Government Administration Law must align with these constitutional provisions, as affirmed by numerous Supreme Court judgements establishing the supremacy of the Constitution over all other laws.

Consequently, the Lagos Society for Good Governance recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was one of the frontline advocate who spoke against tenure elongation during former President Obasanjo regime and from his antecedents, we are cocksure he wouldn’t be a part to such undemocratic acts.

In the same vein, we request President Tinubu to exercise moral leadership by publicly rejecting these unconstitutional tenure elongation schemes. The President should also direct the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, to provide clear advisory on the applicability of constitutional term limits to local government administrations.

More so, as a leader of our democracy and a true son of Lagos, we are appealing to the President to engage with the leadership of Lagos State to ensure that the forthcoming local government elections adhere strictly to constitutional norms and best democratic practices. Similarly, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission should implement new electoral reforms that strengthen local government autonomy and disqualify candidates seeking an unconstitutional third term.

As an advocate of good governance and democratic principles, we draw inspiration from the council elections in northwest region, Ondo, and Akwa-Ibom states which were conducted in strict compliance with electoral laws, resulting in free, fair, and credible outcomes. Lagos State, as Nigeria’s centre of excellence, must not set dangerous precedents that undermine constitutional governance.

The individuals mentioned in the three LCDAs should demonstrate statesmanship by voluntarily withdrawing from the electoral contest in recognition of constitutional term limits. Our democracy cannot afford the normalization of constitutional violations, regardless of how well-intentioned the perpetrators may be.

We remain committed to democratic principles and will utilize all legal and peaceful means to resist any attempts to subvert our constitutional order.

Signed

Friday Sermon: Imam Abubakar Ra’is Speaks on importance of gratitude in our lives, and the importance of Friday prayers

BY COMRADE MUSA MOHAMMED

The Friday prayer acts as a weekly reset, allowing believers to pause, reflect, and realign their lives with their faith. By prioritizing Jumu’ah, Muslims cultivate a habit of regular worship, reinforcing their connection to Allah and their commitment to their community.
Also, Friday Prayer, known as Salatul Jumu’ah, holds special place in hearts of Muslims around world. It’s not just a weekly congregational prayer; it’s a time of spiritual rejuvenation, communal bonding, and reflection on faith.

The Chief Imam of Binn Muhammad Masjid, Hayin Danmani Kaduna, Imam Abubakar Ra’is in his Friday sermon speak about the importance of gratitude in our lives, and the importance of Friday prayers.
Imam Ra’is started by praising the Almighty Allah as follows.

“All praise is due to Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”
“May peace and blessings of Allah be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all those who follow his guidance.”

“Brothers and sisters, today I would like to speak about the importance of gratitude in our lives.”
“Allah has bestowed upon us countless blessings, both material and spiritual.”
“We should always remember to express our gratitude to Him for these blessings.”
“Gratitude is not just about saying ‘thank you,’ it’s about recognizing the source of our blessings and living in a way that reflects our appreciation.”

“Friday is among best days. For this reason, Allah particularly guided this Nation to it and sanctioned their gathering to be on this day. Friday prayer is like a jewel gleaming midst fabric— a day that resonates with unique spiritual aura, beckoning believers to gather in congregation and bow before Almighty”!

“O you who have believed, when [adhan] is called for prayer on day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew” (Surah Al-Jumu’ah, 62:9)

This verse highlights the importance of prioritizing Friday prayer over worldly pursuits, emphasizing centrality in the life of a believer. It serves as a platform for Muslims to come together, reaffirming faith, and strengthening bonds of brotherhood. In the words of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he said:

“Whoever performs the prayer like this [i.e., Friday prayer] will have his sins expiated for him between two Fridays, as long as he doesn’t commit any major sin” (Sahih Muslim)

This hadith highlights great blessings associated with attending Friday prayer, as it serves as a means of purification and redemption for believers. Its position as a congregational obligation emphasizes centrality in the life of a believer.

Understanding specific times for performing Friday prayer is paramount for devout Muslims, as it ensures observance following Islamic teachings. Friday prayer is performed in place of regular Dhuhr (noon) prayer. This means that Friday prayer begins shortly after sun reaches zenith, typically around midday. This is opinion of majority of scholars.

However, it is permissible to perform that prayer just before sun passes meridian in case there is need for that, like in extremely hot weather and there is no shadow to take shelter in, or when people want to set out for Jihad before or around meridian time. Evidence of the two practices.

BREAKING: Why Uba Sani Broke Good Governance Record in the North Group

A group under the auspices of Uba Sani Legacy Projects Solidarity Assembly (USLEPSA) has noted that under the administration of governor Uba Sani, Kaduna State has now become a benchmark for transparency and purposeful leadership in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

The group commended Governor Sani for delivering what it described as “no-excuses governance,” transforming the State within a short span of 21 months despite a backdrop of national economic turmoil and insecurity.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Arewa House in Kaduna, the group’s spokesperson, Hadiza Mohammed, said Governor Sani had demonstrated bold leadership rooted in fiscal discipline, transparency, and measurable results.

According to her, Kaduna State is no longer a story of abandoned dreams but a living proof that good governance is possible, even in tough times.

“Governor Uba Sani didn’t come to make excuses. He came to make a difference. Kaduna has become a benchmark for transparency and purposeful leadership, and the results speak for themselves.

“Among the administration’s landmark achievements is the injection of N100 billion into the state’s water sector, with N35 billion committed in 2025 alone and a target of 100% water access set for December this year. The state also cleared a N1.3 billion electricity debt that had long crippled water treatment plants, while an N800 million salary backlog for Water Corporation staff was also paid.

“Infrastructure development is also on the rise, with 78 new road projects covering 775 kilometers initiated across all 23 local government areas, and 21 key roads already completed and operational. The long-abandoned Kaduna Bridge linking Kabala Costain to Aliyu Makama Road has been revived to decongest the ever-busy Ahmadu Bello Way.

“In education, 62 new secondary schools have been built, alongside the construction of 2,326 new classrooms and the recruitment of 2,000 teachers. Over 30,000 pupil desks and 3,700 teacher chairs have been distributed, while tuition across tertiary institutions was slashed by 50% to ease student burdens. In health, 12 General Hospitals are undergoing major reconstruction, while Primary Health Centres across the state have received equipment upgrades, bringing them to Level 2 standards.

“On the agricultural front, 41,693 farmers have benefitted from input support, including 240,000 bags of fertilizer distributed via 500 trucks, and the deployment of modern farm equipment. Agriculture now contributes 42% of Kaduna’s GDP and received 9.5% of the 2025 state budget.

“The administration has also addressed pension and worker welfare by clearing N6.9 billion in outstanding arrears and launching a N500 million revolving loan scheme for civil servants at a 5% interest rate. Between 2023 and 2024, Kaduna attracted $503 million in foreign investments, signing deals with global players like Huawei and Qatar Charity. Diplomatic discussions with the USA, Italy, and Cuba are also underway, with interest in investing across agriculture, health, and industrial sectors.

“Social empowerment has been tackled through the Hausa programme, “A Kori Talauci”, which has supported nearly 5,000 underserved women with grants ranging from N50,000 to N300,000. Vocational cities are under construction, while the Panteka innovation centre is taking shape. Victims of insecurity and natural disasters are also receiving targeted assistance. The signing of an Executive Order on Financial Inclusion has opened over two million new bank accounts for rural dwellers, helping bridge the financial access gap.

“Internally Generated Revenue has improved due to digital reforms and stringent expenditure tracking, with a strategic audit of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) closing leakages and enhancing efficiency”. Hadiza Mohammed stated.

The group also revealed that the Kaduna Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has generated an “unprecedented Revenue, amounting to 19,267,950,288.62”
