. . . Says Nigerians Require Responsive Governance.

By Abdulwaheed Olayinka Adubi, Kaduna-Nigeria

The Executive members of the northwest zone of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), converged in Kaduna for a strategic meeting, and discussed issues around the progress of the party in the zone.

At the maiden meeting of the zone on Wednesday, the party declared that the people of the northwest and Nigerians require leadership that focused on public interest and responsive governance.

In his opening remarks, the Zonal Vice Chairman of the northwest, Hon. Jafar Sani, disclosed that the northwest zone occupies a strategic position in the political landscape of the country, hence the need for proper coordination of the party in the zone.

While speaking, the Zonal Vice Chairman also declared that arrangements are on the top gear for the unveiling of the Zonal Secretariat, as well, the State Secretariats across the seven states within the zone.

On the ongoing mobilisation, revalidation and membership exercise of the ADC across the country, Sani said, “we are aware that some of the states have commenced this exercise around November last year, with many of us trying to follow suit, especially in the northwest.”

He added that: ” whatever steps the northwest is taken would definitely have a significant effect on the nation’s polity, so today, we are going to look into all the reports that we have received from all the states within the zone, and treat each of them accordingly.”

Fielding questions from Journalists shortly after the meeting, the Zonal National Secretary of the party, Hon. Abubakar Sa’ad Fakai, explained that the party leadership at all levels are working round the clock to ensure that the party is rooted in the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This is just as he also disclosed that the leadership of the party is considering all the issues one after the other, and to ensure that they are addressed based on the issues common to each state.

” If you have been following the activities of the National Secretariat of the party, you will see that the national leadership of the party is working on issues, one at a time, and in no distance time, all issues will be addressed in the interest of Nigerians,” Fakai explained.

When asked on the chances of the party to take over power in 2027, Fakai said: ” I am convinced that the ADC provides a credible platform that is already the choice of Nigerians, and with this, I can assure you that ADC is a part that everybody want to belong to ahead of the forthcoming general elections in 2027.

CSGG Unveils Volunteer and Intelligence Networking Strategies to Support Defence Minister CG Musa in Anti-Terror War

Wednesday 14th ,January , 2026
CSGG NewsMedia

The Citizens Support for Good Governance (CSGG) has unveiled a comprehensive set of citizen-driven strategies aimed at strengthening national efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and violent extremism, while reaffirming unwavering support for the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, whom the group described as a national hero deserving protection from coordinated misinformation and bad publicity.

Speaking in an expanded follow-up to its earlier joint statement in Kaduna, the National Coordinator of CSGG, Dr. Olayinka Adeosun; the North-West Coordinator, Hamisu Danbaba Malumfashi; and the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Hon. VB Mathew, called on Nigerians to actively support the Minister of Defence and security agencies by providing timely and credible information under the principle of “If you see something, say something.”

The leadership of CSGG said the fight against insecurity can no longer be left to security agencies alone, stressing that modern security challenges require a robust citizen security partnership built on trust, technology, and grassroots intelligence.

According to CSGG, one of its core strategies is the establishment of a nationwide volunteer intelligence network made up of vetted community volunteers, youth leaders, transport workers, traders, students, and faith-based actors who will serve as the eyes and ears of security agencies at the local level.

These volunteers will be trained on basic intelligence gathering, early warning signs, digital responsibility, and safe reporting mechanisms to ensure accuracy while protecting lives.

The group also announced the creation of a structured information-sharing ecosystem that links communities to security response centers through secure digital platforms. Central to this initiative is the planned deployment of a free, citizen-focused emergency reporting application, modeled after the 911 system, which will allow Nigerians to instantly report suspicious movements, abandoned items, strange gatherings, and other potential security threats under the guiding principle of “If you see something, say something.”

CSGG explained that the platform will prioritize anonymity, data protection, and rapid relay of actionable intelligence to relevant authorities, thereby closing the gap between citizens and security agencies.

The organization added that misinformation filtering and verification protocols will be embedded to prevent abuse and false alarms.

Beyond technology, CSGG outlined a coordinated community engagement strategy that includes town hall meetings, campus sensitization programs, media literacy campaigns, and faith-based dialogues to counter extremist narratives and discourage the spread of hate speech capable of inflaming tensions.

The group warned that reckless utterances, propaganda, and deliberate disinformation especially when amplified on social media often serve the interests of terrorists and their sponsors.

In a strong show of solidarity, CSGG described General CG Musa as a disciplined professional and patriot who has demonstrated uncommon courage and clarity in confronting terror networks and the shadowy conflict entrepreneurs who profit from Nigeria’s instability.

The organization cautioned that attempts to smear, intimidate, or politically undermine the Minister of Defence amount to indirect support for terrorism and must be resisted by all well-meaning Nigerians.

“General CG Musa is executing a clear mandate given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore security, dismantle terror infrastructure, and go after those who sponsor and shield criminal networks. He must not be left vulnerable to bad publicity engineered by those threatened by peace and accountability,” the statement said.

CSGG further called on the media, civil society groups, traditional rulers, and political stakeholders to act responsibly by amplifying verified information, supporting morale within the Armed Forces, and avoiding narratives that demoralize troops or embolden criminal elements.

The organization reaffirmed its full alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged continuous civic mobilization in support of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, insisting that Nigeria’s safety is a collective project requiring unity, vigilance, and national integration.

“Security is not only won on the battlefield; it is also won in communities, in information spaces, and in the hearts of citizens. We stand with President Tinubu, we stand with General CG Musa, and we stand for a safe, united, and peaceful Nigeria,” CSGG concluded.

North West Group Commends ICPC Over Trial of El-Rufai’s Ally

A socio-political group in the North West, the Concerned North West Stakeholders Forum, has praised the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for initiating the trial of Amadu Sule, a close associate of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged corruption.

Sule, the Managing Director of TMDK Terminal Limited, is facing charges related to a ₦311 billion money laundering scheme. The ICPC arraigned him recently on accusations of abuse of office and diversion of public funds, charges that he has denied.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna, the group’s Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, described the ongoing trial as a significant step toward strengthening accountability and upholding the rule of law in Nigeria.

“The ICPC’s decision to prosecute Sule, a known ally of the former governor, sends a clear message that no one is above the law,” the statement read. “This action will help restore public confidence in the country’s anti-corruption efforts.”

The group highlighted that Nigerians have long demanded greater transparency in the management of public resources, especially by political officeholders and their associates. It expressed hope that this trial would meet public expectations for a fair and impartial judicial process.

Furthermore, the forum urged the ICPC to maintain its commitment to ensuring that the case is rigorously pursued to its conclusion. “Selective justice would undermine the integrity of anti-corruption initiatives,” the statement added.

The Concerned North West Stakeholders Forum also called on other anti-graft agencies to follow the ICPC’s example and investigate corruption allegations against politically exposed individuals across the country. “Accountability is crucial for national development. Public office holders must remember that while power is transient, the law is constant,” the group emphasized.

While urging against any politicization of the case, the forum appealed to the judiciary to handle the trial with professionalism and independence, stressing the importance of justice for national stability.

The ICPC’s trial of Sule has drawn significant attention, as it is seen as a crucial test for Nigeria’s anti-corruption fight, especially involving prominent political figures and their associates.

THE HERESY OF STANDING STILL IN A MOVING POLITICAL TERRAIN

By Barrister Aminu Hussaini Sagagi

One of the most persistent misconceptions about Kwankwasiyya is the attempt to imprison it within a single personality or a single political platform. This reductionist view strips the movement of its historical depth and undermines its ideological ancestry. Kwankwasiyya did not begin with an individual, nor was it designed to end with one. It is the latest expression of a political philosophy that has travelled – deliberately and consistently – through Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

The philosophical roots of Kwankwasiyya lie unmistakably in the radical populism of Malam Aminu Kano, the NEPU tradition and the audacious Tabo philosophy. Tabo was moral courage in action: the willingness to confront feudal dominance, inherited privilege and the culture of silence imposed on the talakawa. Aminu Kano embodied this ethos in both conduct and symbolism. His simple white attire represented moral clarity and humility; his red cap projected identity, resistance and solidarity with ordinary people. These symbols were not ornamental – they were political language.
Crucially, this philosophy never pledged eternal loyalty to a single platform. NEPU itself was born as a rejection of conservative politics. As Nigeria’s political environment evolved, NEPU gave way to the PRP, carrying the same ideals into a new democratic moment. Later, the same populist current found expression in the SDP during the Third Republic and the PDM tendency that followed, adapting again to shifting political realities without abandoning its core mission.

With the return to civil rule in 1999, the philosophy re-emerged within the PDP, where it gained administrative expression and delivered tangible outcomes, particularly in education and social mobility. When the PDP’s internal contradictions deepened, the movement explored the APC as a possible national reform vehicle. When that promise faltered, it returned to the PDP and later found a more accommodating home in the NNPP. At each stage, the platform changed; the values endured.

This historical movement – from NEPU to PRP, SDP, PDM, PDP, APC, back to PDP, and NNPP – is not evidence of ideological inconsistency. It is evidence of ideological resilience. The philosophy travelled because Nigeria changed.

To remain static would have meant irrelevance.
Understanding this lineage is essential to the present debate surrounding Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s imminent alignment with the APC. Resistance from some Kwankwasiyya notables often rests on the mistaken assumption that movement equals betrayal. History suggests otherwise.

The betrayal would be to freeze a living philosophy in sentiment while political realities shift around it.
Nigeria’s contemporary political environment rewards strategic relevance. Governance today is shaped by access to power, coordination of resources and the ability to negotiate influence. For a sitting governor, relevance is not ambition – it is capacity. Surely, capacity in the Kwankwasiyya tradition, exists solely to serve the people.

Perhaps the most damaging misunderstanding is the portrayal of Kwankwasiyya as a personal empire rather than a historical continuum. Individuals may carry the torch at different moments, but the fire itself predates them and will outlive them. To reduce the movement to a personality is to erase Aminu Kano’s legacy and misunderstand the meaning of Tabo.
Kwankwasiyya was never a prisoner of parties. It has always been a travelling philosophy – rooted in justice, powered by relevance and willing to move again to its next destination if that is what service to the people requires.

A Visionary Governance and Purposeful Stewardship In Birnin Gwari LGA

By Comrade Musa Mohammed Moonlight

His emergence ushered in a new era of direction, discipline, and development that has redefined the ideals of leadership at the grassroots level.

In under a year, the administration has written a compelling story of transformation across critical sectors of governance including security, infrastructure, agriculture, education, welfare, and institutional collaboration, all anchored on transparency, accountability, and a genuine desire to serve.

From the onset, Hon. Salisu Isah placed security at the center of his administration’s agenda. What was once a recurring concern became a coordinated mission pursued with determination and tact. His efforts have paid off – banditry’s down, peace is in sight, and the people are feeling hopeful.

Through strengthened synergy with security agencies, enhanced welfare and logistics support, and deliberate community involvement, the administration has successfully curtailed Banditry activities to the barest minimum. Today, Birnin Gwari stands as one of the most peaceful local governments in Kaduna State; a reflection of leadership that acts decisively and responds swiftly.

In the realm of infrastructure, the administration has displayed remarkable foresight. Working through the local council and strategic partnerships, it has continued to open new frontiers of development.

Some of the projects collectively reflect an administration that builds with purpose and delivers with integrity.

The welfare of the people has also remained a central pillar of this administration. From consistent support to the indegenes across the local government wards through monthly stipends, Salisu Isah has exemplified compassionate governance. His leadership reflects not only administrative competence but also a genuine connection with the people he serves.

Some of his notable achievements include:

  • Security: Strengthened ties with agencies, improved welfare for security personnel, and community involvement have reduced banditry significantly.
  • Infrastructure: Strategic partnerships have led to new development projects, showcasing purposeful leadership.
  • Welfare: Monthly stipends for indigenes and support for vulnerable groups demonstrate compassionate governance.
  • Collaboration: Working with traditional leaders and stakeholders has promoted peace and unity.

A notable hallmark of his tenure is the sustained collaboration with the Traditional Council. This relationship has proven invaluable in promoting peace, advancing community development, and resolving inter-communal disputes through dialogue and mutual respect. By institutionalizing this partnership, the administration has strengthened grassroots cohesion and deepened the spirit of unity that defines Ijumu.

The Chairman’s open-door approach and constant engagement with community and political stakeholders have further consolidated harmony across the local government. Through regular consultations, town hall meetings, and cooperative development efforts, the administration has inspired collective ownership of the Ijumu project. The active participation and support of prominent Birnin Gwari sons and daughters in local initiatives is a direct outcome of this inclusive leadership style.

Equally, the welfare of civil servants remains a top priority. Guided by the progressive ideals of His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, the administration has maintained prompt payment of salaries, provision of palliatives, and improvement of working conditions. These efforts have reinvigorated the local government workforce, ensuring that service delivery is both efficient and dignified.

Hon. Isah has redefined leadership through vision, courage, and compassion. His administration has delivered measurable progress, restored public confidence, and renewed hope in the possibilities of local governance. Ijumu today stands taller, stronger, and more united, with her people bound by the spirit of progress inspired by a Chairman whose leadership continues to speak through actions, not promises.

Uba Sani and the Steady Restoration of Security in Kaduna State

Amid rising public debate on insecurity, it is necessary to state clearly that Kaduna State under Governor Uba Sani has recorded notable improvements in security through deliberate, coordinated and intelligence-driven leadership. Contrary to.some opinions, the state is not abandoned to violence, nor is its leadership indifferent to the plight of citizens.

From the outset, Governor Uba Sani placed security at the centre of governance, strengthening collaboration with federal security agencies, supporting logistics and prioritising community-based intelligence.

This approach has led to improved response times, increased patrols and the gradual reopening of farmlands and roads that were once unsafe. Many successful operations, including the rescue of abducted persons, have understandably remained outside the public space for operational reasons.

These gains have been further reinforced by the appointment of General Christopher Gwabin Musa as Minister of Defence. His operational experience and strategic coordination have strengthened military responses nationwide, with Kaduna State benefiting from enhanced deployments, intelligence-led operations and the establishment and reinforcement of Forward Operating Bases in critical areas.

Governor Uba Sani has consistently emphasised unity and reconciliation over negative criticism, engaging traditional rulers, community leaders and stakeholders to rebuild trust and prevent conflict. While insecurity remains a national challenge, Kaduna State has moved from reactive firefighting to proactive prevention.
The reality is clear: Kaduna is safer today than it was in the recent past. Challenges remain, but the direction is positive, and the results reflect purposeful leadership rather than political noise.

Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf at 63: Turning People’s Mandate Into Visible Progress

By Barrister Aminu Hussaini

As Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf turns 63, Kano State marks more than a personal milestone; it reflects on a defining moment in its contemporary governance – one characterised by steady leadership, deliberate choices and a visible renewal across critical sectors of development. It is an occasion that invites sober assessment – and the evidence across key developmental indices points unmistakably to progress driven by clarity of vision, political will and unrelenting commitment to the welfare of the people.

From the outset, Governor AKY’s administration signaled a return to governance anchored on social justice and inclusive development. Education, long acknowledged as the soul of Kano’s future, has received renewed attention. Massive investments in school rehabilitation, teacher recruitment, welfare and the revitalisation of technical and vocational institutions have begun to restore confidence in the public education system. The emphasis is not only on access, but on quality – laying the groundwork for a skilled and competitive generation.

In healthcare, the administration’s interventions have been equally transformative. Upgraded facilities, improved equipment and enhanced manpower across primary and secondary health centres are expanding access to quality care, particularly for rural and underserved populations.

These efforts are gradually yielding improved health outcomes and reaffirming government’s obligation to safeguard the wellbeing of its citizens.
Infrastructure development under Governor Yusuf has been guided by a people-first philosophy.

Strategic road construction and rehabilitation projects within the Kano metropolis and across local government areas eases movement, boosting commercial activity and reconnecting communities. Complementary urban renewal initiatives – ranging from drainage rehabilitation to environmental sanitation – are addressing long-standing challenges of congestion and flooding, making Kano a safer, more functional and livable city.

Economic empowerment remains a defining pillar of the administration. Targeted support for agriculture, small and medium-scale enterprises, and youth entrepreneurship is expanding avenues for productivity and wealth creation. Farmers are benefitting from improved access to inputs and extension services, while market revitalisation efforts are reinforcing Kano’s historic status as a major commercial nerve centre of northern Nigeria.

Equally noteworthy is the restoration of order, discipline and institutional integrity in governance. A renewed emphasis on fiscal prudence, workers’ welfare and respect for traditional institutions has helped stabilise the polity and rebuild public trust. The civil service is more motivated and governance is increasingly driven by rules, processes and accountability rather than impulse.

At 63, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf embodies a blend of experience, empathy and resolve. His leadership reflects an understanding that development is not measured by rhetoric, but by tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary people. While challenges remain – as they inevitably do, the trajectory is clear and encouraging.

While challenges inevitably remain, the direction is unmistakable.
AKY’s birthday, therefore, is not merely a celebration of age, but a moment for Kano to acknowledge steady progress and renew confidence in a governance agenda that places people above politics. In celebrating Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kano celebrates continuity, renewed hope and a future being patiently and purposefully rebuilt.

In this spirit of reflection and renewed confidence, Kano joins millions of well-wishers to congratulate His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on the occasion of his 63rd birthday. It is a celebration of a life devoted to public service and of a leadership that continues to translate vision into measurable progress for the people of Kano State.

As His Excellency marks this milestone, the prayers and goodwill of the state accompany him – wishing him sound health, renewed strength and greater wisdom to sustain the noble task of governance. May the years ahead consolidate the gains already recorded and further entrench Kano on the path of stability, prosperity and inclusive development under his steady and purposeful leadership.

Defence Minister Inspects Key Projects in Zangon Kataf LGA

Bomba Dauda

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), on Friday, 2nd January, 2026 undertook an inspection visit to several ongoing and completed defence-related and public service projects in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to security, education, technology, and healthcare delivery.

The projects inspected include the Defence Comprehensive Secondary School (DCSS), Makamurung, the GWABIN Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Atanje, and the General Hospital, Zango.

At the Defence Comprehensive Secondary School, Makamurung, the Minister assessed facilities and ongoing developments aimed at providing quality education for children of military personnel and civilians alike. He noted that the school would not only enhance access to disciplined and high-standard education but also contribute to human capital development and peaceful coexistence within the host community.

General Musa also visited the GWABIN CBT Centre at Atanje, a technology-driven initiative designed to support computer-based examinations, recruitment processes, and skills assessment. He described the centre as a strategic investment in youth empowerment and digital inclusion, stressing that it would reduce examination malpractice, create job opportunities, and position young Nigerians to compete favourably in an increasingly technology-driven world.

At the General Hospital, Zango, the Defence Minister inspected medical facilities and interacted with health workers, emphasizing the importance of functional healthcare infrastructure in strengthening national resilience. He said improved healthcare services would directly benefit residents of Zangon Kataf and neighbouring communities by reducing maternal and child mortality, improving emergency response, and easing the burden on tertiary hospitals.

Speaking during the visit, General Musa stated that the projects reflect a holistic, non-kinetic approach to national security, where education, healthcare, and technological advancement complement military efforts in addressing insecurity.

“These projects are about people, their education, health, and opportunities. When communities are empowered and hopeful, security is strengthened,” he said.

The inspection tour underscores the Ministry of Defence’s broader strategy of integrating security objectives with social development, ensuring that the dividends of governance reach grassroots communities.
